I received a call yesterday morning (Thursday 7th) that Marston Vale Trust the owners have received a letter from Beds Borough Council Engineers advising them to close off vehicle access through the gate at Church End. This is because testing needs to be done on the bridge over the brook to establish the exact safe loading that can pass over it. Given such short notice we have decided with agreement from Breedens the Gravel Company doing the restoration work that temporary access will be through the old Haul Road off the A603 and then into the site via the gate with Blunham Lock near the Washpit. This was our only access into the site for a number of years before the tracks were installed. The gate at the start of the haul road is on a combination and we will not be doing a general notification of the code on Facebook. People who want to genuinely fish here need to contact myself, Paul (Sluggy) or Tom Fury with their membership number and they will be given the code. This will start from 8.30 this coming Monday the 11th. We as a club can only apologise for this but totally out of our control. How long this will be in place for is currently unknown but I will be rigorously pursuing this to get more definitive information. We will be erecting signage which is on order and ask everyone to open and close all gates after entering and exiting as per usual. |
